Running Pace Calculator
A running pace calculator converts a distance and a finish time into your pace per kilometre and per mile, and shows the even splits you would need to hit that time. Enter your goal or finish time over any distance to see the exact pace and a kilometre-by-kilometre split table for race-day planning.
Even splits
| Distance | Elapsed |
|---|---|
| 1 km | 5:00 |
| 2 km | 10:00 |
| 3 km | 15:00 |
| 4 km | 20:00 |
| 5 km | 25:00 |
| 6 km | 30:00 |
| 7 km | 35:00 |
| 8 km | 40:00 |
| 9 km | 45:00 |
| 10 km | 50:00 |
How it works
Pace is simply time divided by distance. This calculator does the arithmetic both ways: it turns a finish time into a pace, and projects that pace into an even-split table so you know exactly what each kilometre should read on your watch.
Even pacing is the most reliable way to race well — runners who go out fast almost always slow more in the back half than they gained at the front. Use the split table to set realistic targets and check yourself at each marker.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate running pace?
Divide your total time by the distance. For example, 50 minutes over 10 km is 5:00 per kilometre. This calculator does it instantly and also converts to pace per mile.
What is a good running pace?
It depends entirely on fitness and distance. The useful question is what pace you can sustain evenly — start there and let it improve with training rather than chasing an arbitrary number.
Should I run even splits?
For most runners and most distances, yes. Even or slightly negative splits produce faster, more comfortable races than going out hard and fading.
